Texas Police Officer Arrested For Downloading Child Porn From The Dark...

New Braunfels police lieutenant Jacob Pullen was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography, stunning both his colleagues and neighbors.

We are all shocked, saddened, and embarrassed, says Tom Weibert, New Braunfels Police Chief. We all have the same reputation, so if one person does something bad, then publicly it can affect us all.

Pullen has been with the NBPD since 2006, most recently as an administrative lieutenant and reporting.

Texas Rangers took him into custody on Monday.

Pullen remains in Guadalupe County Prison on bail of $ 50000. He was put on paid administrative leave before being charged, says Wilbert, who was notified of the investigation on November 14 and is fully collaborating with the Rangers.

Wiebert described Pullen as follows: Reliable worker. Great record. And for many, he is a friend.

At least some of his neighbors treat him differently, including one woman who described him as not very friendly.

A man who has been living across the road from the Pullen family for about ten years, says he never saw his wife Bonnie. Two other neighbors tell us that they have never met the Pullens or their two teenage children.

Bonnie Pullen referred us today to a family lawyer who declined to comment.

Jacob Pullen allegedly gained access to child porn through a dark network where users can find “a lot of information not available in traditional search engines,” according to FBI special agent Jim Thompson, who is an expert on child sexual exploitation crimes. Because it is an anonymous network used by bad actors.

If you are involved in this type of activity, then you are a very attractive target for many different federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, he says.

While darknet provides anonymity to users, the problem with these anonymity networks is that you have to be perfect. As soon as you start to make mistakes or be lazy, law enforcement has ways to detect this kind of activity, Says Thompson.

Even if a person accidentally stumbles upon child porn, watching it is a crime.

If you are curious and you go to the dark web, and you accidentally stumble upon one of these sites, then this is illegal activity, says Thompson, who notes that child porn arrests included law enforcement officials, kindergarten workers and teachers. We have arrested all walks of life. We see this in all areas of life in all age groups.

He points out that some people may believe that if they just watch child porn, then they are not hurting anyone. But Thompson says this is completely untrue.

They (the children in the video) are re-victimized each time someone watches one of these images, he says. The act of contemplating these images is seen by the courts as a crime of violence.
